Association of People with inflammatory bowel diseases in Romania (ASPIIR) was founded in 2009 and formalized in 2010 with the support of the Romanian Society of Digestive Endoscopy and due to the desire of many people diagnosed with IBD inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease) and ostomates to learn more about these conditions, to share experience, to find answers.

The first meeting in the fall of 2009, Fundeni Clinical Institute Bucharest, gathered some people with BII in Bucharest or surroundings, few doctors in section III of Gastroenterology-Hepatology Institute of Digestive Diseases and Liver Transplantation Bucharest. Later we were joined by others: both IBD patients in Covasna, Constanta, Craiova, relatives or volunteers. An important partner and supporter of the association is consistently Romanian Club for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (RCCC).

ASPIIR cooperate with patient organizations in Europe, particularly the members of the European Federation of Crohn’s and Colitis Associations (EFCCA), which is affiliated aims to become a key partner for biopharmaceutical and medical teams and industry, in particular, to establish a support for ostomates and people with IBD in Romania..
